This week we celebrate National School Social Work Week, and the Brooks County School District is blessed with the absolute BEST Social Worker around! Miss Gabrielle Potts has been with BCSD for the past four years; she provides services to all six of our schools. These services include coordination with local agencies to help families with food, shelter, mental health crisis, mandated reporting, foster care, McKinney Vento and a number of other wraparound services. The families and students of Brooks County are helped daily by her giving and helpful spirit, and it is a good day when you are graced with her infectious smile. We are so proud of Miss Potts and we are exponentially thankful of all she does for everyone in Brooks County. THANK YOU MISS POTTS!!!

📢Great Morning, Trojans! ⚠We had a ton to recognize, so we are going to simplify the format this week... 🎉🎉Congratulations to: 🏀 Brooklyn Hall for placing 2nd in the STATE Elks HoopShoot Competition by making 20 out of 25 free throws! 🏹 Noah Grage (239) and Lillian McCray (216) for placing as the Top Overall MS Boy and 8th Grade Girl, respectively, in the 3D (shooting animal targets) archery tournament last Wednesday 🏹 Ethan Monk (184) and Noah Grage (235) for pacing the HS and MS Archery Programs Friday in the traditional tournament ⚽ MS Girls Soccer for its 3-2 win over Atkinson Co- Varsity Soccer for sweeping Echols Co (3-1 Girls, 8-0 Boys), and the Boys for topping Lanier Co, 9-0 ⚾ Varsity Baseball for taking all 3 games vs Turner Co.  Our Trojans won 20-3, 6-4, and 11-10 in a comeback thriller for the ages to currently sit atop the Region Standings!! ⚾ MS Baseball for its 18-7 victory over Atkinson Co ⚠The amount of Trojan events taking place this week has to be some kind of record.  Pick some games to come out, enjoy the great weather, and support our competitors! 🙏As always, thank you for all you do for our student-athletes #UN1TY🔗 #GoTrojans🔴🔵

📢We are proud to announce that our BCSPD police officers have been sworn in by Sheriff Mike Dewey. This gives our officers county wide jurisdiction. This partnership between the BCSPD and the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office enhances the safety and security of staff, students and community. Dr. Reed received the wonderful news from State Superintendent, Dr. Richard Woods, that the Brooks County School District received Diamond Star School for the amount of participation we had during the Georgia Schools Care Initiative. Your students donated one cent to one dollar or more to help students in foster care have a wonderful holiday season, and yours and their participation is so appreciated!!!

🔴⚪🔵 Trojans, we did it! 🔴⚪🔵 We are proud to announce that ALL K-12 Brooks County Schools have earned the Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness! 🏆🔐 This prestigious recognition, awarded by the Georgia Department of Education in partnership with the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA-HS), honors schools that have gone above and beyond in the area of school emergency preparedness. Brooks County Schools is one of only six districts in Georgia to have every K-12 school receive this honor! 🎉 The Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness signifies that our schools have taken proactive steps to enhance safety, emergency preparedness, and risk mitigation through extensive planning, training, drills, security technology, and data analysis. 🌟 This year, 466 schools applied for this recognition, and only 136 were awarded the Seal of Preparedness. 🌟 A huge THANK YOU to our administrators, faculty, and staff for their dedication to increasing school safety and minimizing risk factors for our students. Your hard work makes a difference! 💪
