NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

 

The Brooks County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a 2021 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by .71 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Board Office, 1081 Barwick Rd, Quitman, GA on August 12, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. and at 3:00 P.M.

 

Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Board Office, 1081 Barwick Rd, Quitman, GA on August 19, 2021 at 6:00 P.M. Immediately upon adjournment of the public hearing, the Commissioners will go into called session to adopt the 2021 millage rates.

 

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.811 mills, an increase of .105 mills.  Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 14.706 mills.  The proposed tax increase for a homesteaded home with a fair market value of $125,000 is approximately $5.25 and the proposed tax increase for non-homesteaded property with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $6.30.
