March is Youth Art Month and we love celebrating all of the wonderful art happening around Brooks County. The BCMS band has increased the number of students participating tremendously the last few years. They were also honored to play for our State Superintendent, Dr. Woods, when he visited earlier this year. You do not want to miss these phenomenal musicians at their Spring Concert. #BCSFineArts #ArtsEdGA #YouthArtMonth

Throwback Thursday: Class of 1998 Superlatives 🎓✨
We're taking it back to 1998! 🔥 The Brooks County High School Senior Class Superlatives were voted "most likely" to shine, succeed, and make a difference. From "Most Talented" to "Most Athletic," these seniors left their mark on BCHS!
Tag a Class of '98 Trojan if you see them in the photo! 📸💙❤️

Delta Innovative School students have been trying their artistic hands at printmaking. Especially during Youth Art Month, but all of the time too, we love to see the way Ms. Vasquez challenges her students to explore new mediums of art! #BCSFineArts #ArtsEdGA #YouthArtMonth

🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Kanan Simpson 🌟
As we celebrate Board of Education Appreciation Week, we’re excited to introduce one of our newest board members!
🔹 Kanan Simpson
🔹 Years on Board: First Year of Service
What inspired him to serve?
"I was motivated to serve on the Brooks County Board of Education to play a more active role, as both a parent and an advocate, in shaping the future of our school district. With a commitment to the success of our children, I am focused on ensuring that every student receives the best education possible while also supporting and strengthening our school system for continued success."
What he loves most about Brooks County Schools:
"I love the strong sense of community and the dedication to student success. I’ve witnessed firsthand how committed our administrators, faculty, and staff are to our children—going above and beyond to prepare them for both classroom success and real-world opportunities. As a parent, I’m confident that my children are in a supportive environment that fosters both academic achievement and personal growth."
His advice for students:
"Stay focused and never stop learning. As an IT professional, I always lean on the motto, 'The day you stop learning is the day you become obsolete.' This applies across the board! During the last Brooks County School District Student Services Meeting, where the school counselors and nurses get together to celebrate successes and collaborate to solve concerns, the nurses presented the idea of getting Ambu Bags (manual resuscitator) and LifeVacs in order to add to their arsenal of ways to create a safe environment and aid in case of an emergency. Ambu Bags are used in emergency situations to help patients breathe, and a LifeVac is a non-powered, portable suction device designed to clear a choking victim's airway by creating a vacuum. We love our nurses and how they work hard to always keep our students safe and healthy!!! #SchoolNurses

🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Jessica Goodman 🌟
As we continue celebrating Board of Education Appreciation Week, we’re highlighting the incredible leaders shaping our schools!
🔹 Jessica Goodman
🔹 Years on Board: 2
What inspired her to serve?
"As a graduate of Brooks County Schools and a parent of children currently in the district, I have a deep connection to this community. My experiences here shaped who I am today, and I want to give back by helping to create a strong educational foundation for future generations. As both a parent and an employer, I understand the challenges and opportunities within our system, and I’m passionate about improving the educational experience for all students."
What she loves most about Brooks County Schools:
"Our district is truly community-oriented—it feels like home. Teachers, staff, students, and families all come together to support one another. I still see some of my former teachers out in the community supporting kids, and now the next generation of educators is doing the same for today’s students. Trojan pride runs deep, and we love seeing fellow Trojans succeed in all aspects of life!"
Her advice for students:
"Hard work is something no one can take away from you. You may not be the most talented, but if you are the most dedicated and have the best work ethic, you will rise to the top. No matter what challenges come your way, the effort you put in will always be yours to keep—and it will lead to success in ways you might not expect."
Thank you, Mrs. Goodman, for your dedication and service to Brooks County Schools! ❤️💙
