Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop Brings Hands-on Career Exploration to Brooks County High School
Tomorrow, CTAE students at Brooks County High School and Delta Innovative School will experience a unique and engaging way to explore career options aboard the Be Pro Be Proud GA Mobile Workshop, a 53-foot unit that showcases numerous technical professions through gamified simulators.
They can virtually get behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler, operate heavy equipment, experience real-life healthcare scenarios, and bind metal in a virtual welding simulation. Additional experiences include exploring linework through an Oculus VR headset, discovering robotics and automation, maneuvering forestry machinery, and connecting with representatives from local community partners to learn about career opportunities.
“Career exploration empowers high school students to discover their passions, understand their strengths, and make informed decisions about their future—it’s the foundation for enjoying life and a successful career”, said Brooks County Schools CTAE Director,Brian Law. “Be Pro Be Proud is a great way to introduce key fields, needed skillsets, and pathways at a key point in a student’s progress. We’re thankful to Georgia Power for making this visit possible.”
Since its launch in 2020, Be Pro Be Proud has hosted more than 73,000 visitors on the mobile workshop, across 81 counties and over 400 tour visits.
Be Pro Be Proud Georgia is a statewide workforce development initiative working out of the Cherokee Office of Economic Development. The interactive workshop revolutionizes the way people think about the skilled professions, engaging students with hands-on modules that spark curiosity and outline the training necessary to fulfill today’s most in-demand careers.
