Great Morning Trojan Nation! Congratulations to our BCMS Lady Trojan Basketball Team for its season opening victories over Valdosta and Mitchell County Saturday. The games were our only competition last week at BCS. We are hoping to get back to normal this week, but I can promise you we are far from it. As you can see on our weekly schedule, we feel like we know WHO we are playing, but are still up in the air about WHERE we may be playing, based on opponents' facility playability. Games could be at our place, their place, or neutral sites. Luckily, any game where we are the home team, we WILL BE HOSTING, as our facilities came through the storm with little damage. There have been questions about our Varsity Football Schedule after GHSA pushed the playoffs back a week, so I have attached that as well...of course with it being subject to change. This includes Tuesday's Softball game, Thursday's MS Football Game, and Friday's HS Football Game. As we learn more about each competition, we will be sure to pass along information. BCHS Softball will be completing its season this week, and will honor the seniors in between games tonight during the DH vs Turner Co. Game 1 starts at 4:30. BCHS Volleyball will celebrate Senior Night Thursday, and will also be hosting a least 1 round of playoffs beginning next week! Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the storm. ❤️🤍💙 🏫Brooks County Schools will resume normal operations on Monday - October 7. If any students are unable to attend due to power outages or impassable roads, parents may contact their child's school on Monday morning. 📢Trojan Nation - 🎉🏐Congratulations first and foremost to our BCMS Lady Trojan Volleyball Team!! Last week, they brought home the Region Championship by defeating Thomasville on Tuesday night. They then took care of St John Catholic School while honoring their 8th graders Wednesday. Outstanding season to all of the athletes, Coach Emily English, Coach Tori Shook, and Coach BreAsia Burns!! 🎉🏐Congratulations to our BCHS Lady Trojan Volleyball Team for locking up the 2 seed heading into the playoffs in a couple weeks. They beat Calhoun County to finish the Region Season with only 1 loss. Great job, Ladies!!! We will keep everyone updated when the playoff schedule hits, as well as when we will find a game to honor our seniors. 🎉🏈Congratulations to our BCMS Football Team for its HUGE playoff victory, 30-6, over 1 seed Pulaski County. They will now be in the Semi-Finals against Clinch Co. The game is tentatively scheduled for next Wednesday, October 9th at 6:00 pm. 🎉🏈Finally, congratulations to our BCHS Football Team for its 49-0 region-opening win over Turner County. Lightning delays, rain, impending storm, and the game being played on a Wednesday brought many obstacles, but we still showed up. Thank you, fans!! Thank you also to our Empire of Sound, Cheerleaders, Dance and Auxiliary for also showing up and putting on quite a performance! These programs were all given the option to take the night off with all of the adversity surrounding the game, but not one even flinched. What a testament to their leadership, character, and LOVE for the TROJANS!! ⚠Speaking of adversity, this week brings a ton. As of right now, all athletic contests for the week are in the process of being rescheduled, canceled, or modified in some way. We will do our best to keep you informed as we know something. We do know this...Friday's Football Game vs Lanier Co will be played Friday, October 18th. This is also when we will have homecoming and senior night festivities. Maybe 3rd time's the charm! Dear Trojan Family, As we recover from this unprecedented event, know our hearts are with you and your families. At last report, there was no accurate estimation for restoration of power in the near future. Many of our roads continue to remain unsafe and impassable, especially for school buses. Our Emergency Management Team remains in constant contact with Brooks County EMA and other public safety entities. Resources are spread thin not only in Brooks County, but the entire region. With that, we have made the decision that we will not be returning to school for the week of September 30 through October 4. Now is the time for recovery and healing. Brooks County Schools remains committed to the safety of our staff, students, and community. We will keep you posted on any new developments.
