🎉What a great week for athletics!
🥎Congratulations to our MS Softball team for its 23-11 victory over Atkinson Co! This puts them right in the thick of the playoff race.

🏐Congratulations to our entire Volleyball Program! The MS swept St John Catholic while our Varsity went 3-0 on the week, defeating Sumter Co, Chattahoochee Co, and Mitchell Co. The final 2 matches opened up Area play, starting us off with a 2-0 record. Great Job, Ladies!!!

🏈Congratulations to our MS Football team for its nail-biting win on the road over Lanier County. The Trojans are 1-0 in the conference with a big one at home this week vs Clinch Co. Come out to the stadium Wednesday at 5 to catch them in action!

Brooks County Schools Regulation: Charter
Petition Submission and Review Timeline
(Effective beginning September 2025)
In accordance with State Board Rule 160-4-9-.05, Brooks County Schools will annually publish
and follow the timeline below for the submission, review, and approval of start-up charter school
petitions.
1. Annual Publication of Timeline
By September 1 of each year, Brooks County Schools will publish the official timeline for
charter petition submissions and reviews on the district website.
2. Petition Submission Deadline
The deadline for petitioners to submit a complete start-up charter school petition is December
1 of each year.
 This deadline ensures compliance with the State requirement of “on or before January 1.”
 No petitions submitted after this date will be considered unless the Office of Charter
School Compliance has approved an alternative deadline in advance.
3. District Review Period
District staff will review all petitions submitted by the deadline between December and
March of each year. Reviews will focus on completeness, compliance with applicable law, and
alignment with district and state standards.
4. Local Board Action
The Brooks County Board of Education will take official action by June 30 of each year.
 By majority vote, the Board will either approve or deny each petition submitted within
the timeline.
5. Pre-Opening Period
If a petition is approved, the start-up charter school must allow a minimum of six
months between local board approval and the first day of operation.
 Example: If the petition is approved in June 2026, the earliest opening date for the
charter school would be January 2027.
