Come out to Veterans Stadium Friday, August 28th, for the Trojans first home game of the season! Cheer on the Trojans and see the new lighting system—it’s amazing! We have officially retired our old stadium lights and installed a brand-new, state-of-the-art Musco Show-Light system.

This upgraded setup delivers the exact footcandle levels, field coverage, and lighting intensity required for official GHSA competitions, ensuring our athletes always have optimal playing conditions on the field. Built to last for years to come, it will create an entertaining, high-energy atmosphere for football, soccer, and other events hosted at the stadium.

Get ready for an unforgettable game day experience. See you under the lights!

🤒 WHEN IS YOUR CHILD TOO SICK FOR SCHOOL? 🎒

We want all of our Trojans healthy, present, and ready to learn! Regular attendance is important, but we also know there are times when students need to stay home and recover.

Here are a few guidelines to help families know when to keep a child home:

🌡️ FEVER: 100.4°F or higher
➡️ Students may return after being fever-free for at least 24 hours WITHOUT fever-reducing medication.

🚽 DIARRHEA: 3 or more loose/watery stools within 24 hours
➡️ Students may return after being free from diarrhea for at least 24 hours without medication.

🤢 VOMITING: 2 or more times within 24 hours
➡️ Students may return after being free from vomiting for at least 24 hours without medication.

💚 Remember: Every school day matters! Chronic absenteeism includes days missed for any reason, including excused absences. Missing just **10% of the school year—about 18 days—**can impact a student's academic progress.

If you're unsure whether your child is well enough to attend school, please contact your child's healthcare provider or school nurse for guidance.

🏫 Healthy students. Strong attendance. Successful Trojans.
Together, we can make every day count!

🩺 TROJAN FAMILIES: HAVE YOU SIGNED UP FOR SCHOOLCARE?

SchoolCare is an online medical charting program that has replaced the hard-copy student medical form that families received in previous years. All parents/guardians need to create a SchoolCare account and complete their student’s health information.

⚠️ This is especially important:
A student cannot be treated by the school nurse or receive over-the-counter medication unless their parent/guardian has created and completed their SchoolCare account.

💻 Through SchoolCare, you can:
✅ Provide important medical and health information
✅ Give permission for your child to be seen by the school nurse
✅ Give permission for approved over-the-counter medications
✅ Keep your child’s health information up to date throughout the year

🔒 Your student’s privacy matters. SchoolCare is HIPAA and FERPA compliant, and student information is kept secure and protected.

📲 Please don’t wait until your child needs the nurse! Take a few minutes to create your SchoolCare account and complete your student’s information now so our nurses can provide care when it’s needed.

❤️💙 Thank you for helping us keep our Trojans healthy, safe, and ready to learn!

💊 MEDICATION DROP-OFF REMINDER 💊

Trojan Families, if your student will need to take prescription or over-the-counter medication during the school day, we encourage you to bring the medication to your student’s school nurse during Open House on Monday.

Taking care of this during Open House will make the process much easier and faster for you and will help us avoid delays during those busy first few days of school.

✅ Bring medication in its original, properly labeled container.
✅ Medication should be given directly to the school nurse by a parent/guardian.
✅ Please be prepared to complete any required medication forms with the nurse.
✅ NEW THIS YEAR: Medication refills may NOT be given to bus drivers or school administrators. A parent/guardian must bring all medication refills into the school and give them directly to the school nurse.

Taking a few minutes to get this handled at Open House means one less thing to worry about when school begins! ❤️💙

We appreciate your help as our nurses work to make sure all students have a safe and healthy start to the school year!

📚 The First Day of School Is Right Around the Corner! 🍎

Trojan Families, as we prepare for another great school year, we want to make sure everyone starts the year informed and ready for success!

📅 Attendance matters EVERY DAY, and there are some new attendance policies and procedures that will be in place this school year. We encourage all parents and guardians to take a few minutes to review the information provided and familiarize themselves with these important updates.

Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. When students are at school, they are learning, connecting, and moving one step closer to graduation. 🎓❤️💙

Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority from Day ONE!

❤️💙 Every Day Matters. Every Student Matters.

CONVOCATION 2026 was held Tuesday, August 19 at the BCS Performing Arts Center, with our theme for the year, "Better Together!" After a fantastic welcome by the Empire of Sound Marching Band, the Trojanettes Dance Teams from Brooks County High School and Brooks County Middle School, the BCHS Flag Corps, and Cheerleaders from BCHS and BCMS, our staff members enjoyed a performance from their halftime show, and of course, the BC Fight Song! New staff members were recognized, along with the Teachers of the Year from each school and staff members with at least 15 years of service. Guest speaker Logan Weber gave a powerful message about the importance of our words. All staff members were entered into drawings for fabulous prizes, donated by community partners, and the prestigious Spirit Hammer was won by North Brooks Elementary School! It was a great morning filled with smiles, school spirit, and Trojan pride!
