Glasscock Named ELC Teacher of the Year

Brooks County Schools Early Learning Center principal Sam Harden recently announced that PreKindergarten teacher Krysti Glasscock had been selected as Teacher of the Year.  Ms. Glasscock has been teaching for eight years. “The most rewarding aspect of teaching is knowing that we as educators make a difference in these kids' lives every single day. Our children deserve our best every single day! Sometimes we have to regroup and make sure that we are giving them the best of us.” stated Glasscock.  With a Bachelor’s degree from Shorter University and a Master’s degree from Thomas University, Glasscock knew from an early age she wanted to be a teacher. She remembers the care that many of her elementary school teachers showed to her and this influenced her to become a teacher. She believes that schools should be a safe, caring environment for children and she strives to provide that in her classroom.

Mrs. Harden said, “Ms. Glasscock is the epitome of Pre-K.  She is always engaging with her students.  You can find her sitting in the middle of the floor surrounded by the children, laughing, talking, and teaching.  Every child that steps through her door is blessed to call Ms. Glassock, their teacher.”   Over her eight years of teaching, Ms. Glasscock has made many memories. One of her funniest memories is a conversation with one of her PreK students. “One of my little girls was telling us about playing a game around a table with her little brother. We asked her if she was playing a board game and she looked shocked and very quickly said "No! It was a fun game!" We still laugh about that!” said Ms. Glasscock.

The daughter of Mary Glasscock and Johnny Marin,  Glasscock is “super” aunt to 15 nieces and nephews that she enjoys spending quality time with. She enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and going to Universal Studios. Ms. Glasscock will represent the Early Learning Center for the 2021-2022 school year as Teacher of the Year and will compete at the district level for the title of Brooks County Schools Teacher of the Year. The BCS Teacher of the Year will be named at the Teacher of the Year banquet hosted in the fall.  Pictured is Ms. Krysti Glasscock, Early Learning Center Teacher of the Year.
