HOSA

Brooks County High School Health Occupations Student Association (HOSA) recently attended the State Leadership Conference in Atlanta. Fourteen students attended and competed in events such as First Aid/CPR, CNA, Forensic Science, Veterinary Science and HOSA Bowl competing against just over 5000 other students from Georgia. Some students volunteered for Courtesy Corp getting some volunteer hours and leadership training.

While in Atlanta the students were able to interact with students from big schools, small schools, from both south Georgia neighbors to the farthest point north in Georgia as well as international  students and career academies that focus just on healthcare science training. Eight of the students who finished their first round of competition were able to meet the BCHS AP Biology students for an interactive learning experience at the Georgia Aquarium.

CTAE Director, Brian Law and HOSA Advisor, Zinda McDaniel accompanied the students and stated, “The students learned so much from networking with other students from a variety of cultures with scholarly discussions about advancements in healthcare as well as exhibits from colleges and vendors with the latest technology used in the field.” When all the competitions were complete, Heaven Wright placed 3rd in the state for CNA Skills. Heaven is a senior dual enrolled in the BCHS-Wiregrass Technical College CNA program.
