FFA Recoginition

Luke Hylton, Jacob Sowards, and John Elliott have earned the prestigious State FFA Degree — the highest honor the Georgia FFA Association can bestow upon a member.

The State FFA Degree recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to agriculture and FFA through their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs, leadership, community service, and academic achievement.

To earn this honor, recipients must:

  • Hold the Chapter FFA Degree and have been active members for at least 24 months

  • Complete at least two years (360 hours) of agricultural education

  • Invest at least $1,000 or work 300 hours in their SAE programs

  • Complete at least 25 hours of community service

  • Demonstrate leadership through speeches, parliamentary procedure, and committee or officer roles

  • Maintain a "C" or higher academic average

  • Participate in chapter planning and attend at least five FFA events above the chapter level

Brooks County High School FFA has earned a GOLD ranking for the National Chapter Award, placing our chapter among the top 25% of FFA chapters in Georgia! This prestigious honor recognizes chapters that go above and beyond in promoting premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.

To achieve this award, FFA chapters must excel in several key areas:

🔹 Program of Activities (POA):
Our chapter successfully developed and implemented a wide range of activities that reflect the three pillars of FFA: Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture. These activities addressed the needs of our members and our local community.

🔹 National Quality Chapter Standards (NQCS):
We met or exceeded the minimum requirements in all three pillars, ensuring our chapter maintains high standards in leadership, community involvement, and agricultural education.

🔹 15+ Chapter Activities:
Our chapter completed over 15 impactful and diverse activities, showcasing our commitment to member development and community outreach.

🔹 Documentation and Application:
The chapter submitted a detailed and competitive National Chapter Award application, documenting our efforts, achievements, and impact throughout the year.

As a Gold-ranked chapter, Brooks County High FFA is now eligible to compete at the national level this summer for further recognition as a 1-, 2-, or 3-Star Chapter. If selected, we will represent Georgia FFA at the National FFA Convention this October in Indianapolis, Indiana!

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our members, officers, and advisors. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this possible—we are so proud to be leading the way in agricultural education and leadership! Ms. Josie Brightwell is the FFA Advisor.
