BCMS Math Club Scores Big at MathFest

On Saturday, the Brooks County Middle School Math Club traveled to Warner Robins, GA, to compete in the MathFest Competition. MathFest was created in June 2001 by a group of elementary educators who came together to discuss the merits of creating an extended math initiative that could motivate students, parents, and teachers to raise the standards and expectations in math. Students worked to solve word problems that involve calculations; there are no multiple-choice questions given at these competitions.  All students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade received invitations to move on to the next level of competition which will be held on December 15th in Atlanta, Georgia!
