Head of a Dog: Bob

Quitman Elementary School's gifted teacher Mrs. Angie Tillman recently used three of the STEAM On Tour paintings, donated to Brooks County Schools by the Brooks County Museum and Cultural Center, in a lesson on transportation.  After discussing how transportation (trains) allowed artists to go to the countryside to be inspired by realism, students learned about the rule of thirds and how the dog is off center for a reason. The students learned about Edouard Manet, the artist of “Head of a Dog: Bob” finding his purpose so the students completed a writing assignment about their purpose now and what it will be in the future. Meagan DeSantiago created her own “Head of the Dog” using paint pens on a pillowcase.
