Students in Pre-K through 12th grade can now access free, educational PBS daytime programming designated for each grade level weekdays on GPB-TV. n addition to the broadcast schedule, Georgia students and educators can also access an online library of free educational resources from GPB Education, PBS LearningMedia, and Discovery Education, including videos, activities, and associated lesson plans for teachers, that align with Georgia standards. Pre-K through 5th grade resources are now available. Resources for grades 6-12 will be added in the coming days.
STEM Challenges are centered around the engineering design process. They immerse students in a hands-on inquiry focused on a phenomena (observable event) that aligns with the key concepts under study. Kids absolutely love doing them and they generally use materials that are cheap and easy to find. Check out some of our favorite STEM challenges below. Each comes with a detailed lesson plan, a student lab sheet, a close read focusing on the phenomenon and key concepts, and a short video for teachers that highlights the challenge.
