Important Announcement:
Over the next several days (September 15-25, 2025), the Brooks County Schools Police Department will be conducting intruder/active threat drills as required by Georgia law. These drills must be completed by October 1, 2025. As parents/guardians, you have the choice for your child to Opt-Out if you do not want them to participate. IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CHILD TO BE A PART OF THE DRILL, PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL’S PRINCIPAL BY TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, AT 3:00 P.M.
You may notice an increase in law enforcement presence on our campuses during the time of each drill.
Your child will be given an alternative activity during the drill if they are at school. Please know that in a real emergency, your child will be expected to follow staff directions for safety. This will be practice only. During the time of the drills, no checkouts will be permitted. Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. NBES will host Grandparents Day Lunch tomorrow! We ask guests to park on the side of NBES, enter the cafeteria via the bus ramp, and be prepared to go through our metal detector (leave bags in the car). Lunch times are: Kinder: 10:45-11:10, 3rd: 1:15-11:40, 1st: 11:45-2:10, 5th: 12:15-12:40, 4th: 12:45-1:10, and 2nd: 1:15-1:40. Reservations and prepayment are required. We look forward to seeing all of our guests!

Also, the last parent meeting for Summer ECHOES will be held today at 3:00 in the NBES cafeteria. This meeting is mandatory for summer ECHOES attendance.
NBES will host kindergarten graduation tomorrow, May 15th. The program will begin promptly at 9:00 am in the gymnasium. Please park on the side of the building, and enter through the cafeteria sidewalk. We are excited to celebrate our kindergarten students!
NBES, Coke fundraiser orders are due tomorrow, May 13th! Make your selections, send in your order form and payment, and we will place the orders. Your cases will be delivered to the school for pickup on May 19th! Thank you for your support!
NBES Honors Night Invitations went home with students today. It will be held at the BCHS PAC on May 9th at 6pm. 4th and 5th grade students who are eligible to attend received invitations today. If you have questions concerning Honors Night, please reach out to Ms. Wendy Graham at wgraham@brooks.k12.ga.us.
NBES students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the Georgia Milestones starting tomorrow, 3/21. Students will take ELA 1 on Tuesday, ELA 2 on Wednesday, and ELA 3 on Thursday. Math and Science will be next week on 4/29 and 4/30. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 am. Get a great night's rest, and be ready to show what you know!
