Please join us in recognizing Dr. Hiers as our current Trojan Trailblazer! A true cornerstone of our academic community, Dr. Hiers wears many hats with grace and expertise. Whether she is guiding the way as our TORCH lead teacher, leading our Science department through assessment writing and curriculum reviews, or serving as an invaluable Math thinking partner, her influence is felt across every hallway and classroom. Dr. Hiers brings a wealth of knowledge to our school team, but it is her collaborative spirit and dedication to instructional excellence that truly set her apart. Join us in showing your appreciation to the invisible engine of our school - our technology specialist, Mr. Brandon Culpepper. When things are running perfectly, you hardly notice he is here. But the moment the server dips, a testing platform glitches, a Chromebook freezes, or your smart board decides to give you a problem slap dab in the middle of a lesson, he's the first one you call, text, or email.

Mr. Culpepper - thank you for being the calm in the digital storms. Thank you for responding in a timely manner to emails, to teacher requests, ... heck, to all the things! Your hard work behind the scenes allows our classrooms to thrive, our Trojans' creativity to flourish, and our school to move to the next level! In a world that is increasingly digital, you are truly the heartbeat of the school building, and you make it easier to bring learning to life in our classrooms!

At the heart of a true Trojan Trailblazer is a simple but powerful belief: every Trojan can rise to the occasion when they have the right team behind them. This week's Trojan Trailblazer is not one person, it is one team - - a team committed to exploring the benefits of co-teaching in the ELA classroom!

True magic happens in the "we." Through intentional collaborative planning and co-teaching, this group of three (EL teacher, SPED co-teacher, and ELA writing content teacher) built a powerhouse alliance. Using Write Score as the foundation of their lessons and through collaboration with Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Lee, our sixth grade students were able to experience writing instruction in a unique environment by weaving together specialized expertise and core curriculum. When this type of collaboration is planned and implemented, we aren’t just "getting through" the material, we are actively differentiating to meet every learner exactly where they are.

When we collaborate, our Trojans conquer. We are proud these three teachers are members of our team that proves high expectations + high support = limitless potential as we strive to take our students to the #nextLevel!

We thank you - - Mr. Thomas, Ms. Lopez, and Coach G - - for your willingness to share ownership of the classroom to provide our students with the support they need to grow as writers!
