BCHS Ag Teacher, Josie Brightwell, wins Colquitt EMC Bright Ideas Grant
This summer, Ms. Brightwell, BCHS Ag Teacher applied for the Colquitt EMC Bright Ideas Grant and was just awarded $1,000 to benefit her Wildlife class. Thanks to this funding, students will have the unique opportunity to partner with Mud Hole Custom Tackle to build their own fishing rods and tackle.
During this unit, students will explore topics such as native aquatic species, pond management, and fishing regulations. The hands-on experience will conclude with each student crafting their own fishing rod and tackle, giving them both valuable knowledge and practical skills that connect directly to Georgia’s natural resources and outdoor recreation.
Congratulations Ms. Brightwell, and we can't wait to see the innovations our students make as a result of this grant from Colquitt EMC.
Bright Ideas awards teachers money for innovative lessons and projects to energize student’s learning abilities. The purpose of the Bright Ideas Program is to provide resources for teachers that will enable them to plan and implement special instructional opportunities to improve student achievement through the implementation of the Georgia Performance Standards. The Bright Ideas program awards grants of up to $1,000 to winning teachers. Public and private school teachers, teaching grades K-12, in any subject area are eligible to apply.
