Brooks County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will resume our normal schedule on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Attention DIS Students and Parents: Report cards will be sent home with your child TODAY! Attached to your child's report card are two letters concerning a survey from the Georgia Department of Education. Please read them! Attention ALL VIRTUAL/INDEPENDENT STUDENTS: You will need to pick up your report cards TODAY! They WILL NOT be mailed. See Mrs. Pam in the main office until 3:30pm.

Our Trojans' safety is our top priority. After careful consideration of the weather forecasts and recommendations from local authorities, there will be no school on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, due to the threat of inclement weather. DIS Parents: November is Family & Parent Engagement Month, and we invite you to come out to meet the Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator, Coach Lucas, from our school. The monthly Coffee & Conversations w/ The Principals will be on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 8:30-9:30a.m., at the JH Wells Center. Our principal and coordinator would love to share information with you on the importance of parent and family engagement to support our Trojans' academic achievement AND hear your ideas on how to strengthen family-school partnerships.

Georgia Virtual Learning proudly introduces GaTutor, a new program to offer free, flexible tutoring options to students in grades 9-12. Due to the condition of roads, downed trees, and the continued power outages, Brooks County Schools will remain closed through Monday, September 4. All athletic events will be rescheduled. We plan to reopen on Tuesday, September 5. If plans should change, we will make an announcement on Monday. Stay safe, Trojans!

DIS Parents: Flu shot and dental forms will be sent home today with your child. If you would like for them to receive these services, please complete the forms and return them to the school.

As Tropical Storm Idalia occupies our attention, please rest assured that Brooks County Schools are actively monitoring the storm. We are in constant contact with local and state emergency management as well as local stakeholders. As of this moment, no decisions have been made in reference to the status of school closings. It is simply too early to make those determinations. We continue to be involved in several briefings throughout the day to ensure we have the most current information. We recommend that everyone visit the Brooks County 911/EMA Facebook page and download the CodeRed App. The free app is used nationwide and will provide real time emergency information for your area. The safety and welfare of our students and staff as well the entire Trojan community remains our top priority.
