Mr. Cisco Diaz, Principal

Mr. Cisco Diaz is the proud principal here at Quitman Elementary School. This is Mr. Diaz’s first year at QES. Mr. Diaz spent his last thirteen years working in the Valdosta City Schools. His last five years were spent serving as principal of W. G. Nunn Elementary school. Originally for Norcross, Georgia, Mr. Diaz relocated to South Georgia to attend college ended up making South Georgia his home.

Mr. Diaz received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Valdosta State University. He graduated from Georgia College & State University with a Master’s degree in biology. He returned to Valdosta State University where he earned his Educational Specialist degree in educational leadership. Currently he is working on his doctoral degree at Valdosta State University and hopes to graduate in May 2019.

Mr. Diaz is married with two children. His wife, Laura Diaz, also works in education as an Assistant Director for Special Education. Mr. Diaz enjoys spending time with his family and traveling whenever possible. His love for education stems from the children he serves. Seeing the great potential in our children as well as the influence an educator can have on a child makes his job priceless. 

Mrs. Melissa Alexander, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Melissa Alexander is honored to serve as Assistant Principal at Quitman Elementary School. A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Mrs. Alexander began her teaching career in Brooks County at Quitman Elementary School in 1997. Her passion is and always will be the success and growth of students in Brooks County.

Mrs. Alexander received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, Master’s degree in Reading and Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. Mrs. Alexander is excited to return to Quitman Elementary School where she believes Quality Education Starts. Her passion is for all students to succeed through collaborative efforts with parents, teachers, students and community.
