North Brooks Elementary

Beginning Monday, May 11th through Monday, May 18th, we are going to open up our online assessments for 1st-5th grade students. These Reading and Math assessments are not for a grade and are considered our universal assessments that we administer three times a year to monitor student growth and plan instruction.  We would like for our students to complete the assessments online so that we can make instructional plans and target individual studnet needs as we plan for the future.  1st-5th grade students will take the iReady Math assessments located in Clever.  3rd-5th grade students will take Reading Inventory located by going to the Brooks County website, click on Explore, and then select Reading Inventory.  Usernames and Passwords are the same and are each student's lunch #.  We are working with Freckle/Renaissance to also administere a Reading assessment to our K-2nd grade students and will be sending out more information soon.  Your child's teacher will be discussing the assessments with students this upcoming Monday, May 11th during Google Meets.

The following are tips to help set up the best testing environment at home:

1.  Select a quiet location free from distractions.

2.  Provide scratch paper and 2 sharpened pencils for the iReady Math assessment.  No calculators are allowed.

3.  Take each test on different days.

4.  Test when your child is most alert, usually in the mornings.

5.  Be sure your child goes to bed early the night before the assessments.

6.  Be sure your child eats a good breakfast the morning of the assessments.

Each test can take from 20-60 minutes or longer.  If your child gets fatigued during testing, stop and take a break or resume testing the next day.  The test will pick up where your child left off.  It is normal to take longer verses finishing quickly.  If your child asks for help, encourage your child to do his or her very best and resist helping.  If you do not have Wifi, we are aware and will be in contact.  Thank you fo ryour support and for helping us gather information to make instructional plans as we move forward.
