Register Named QES TOTY

Mrs. Julie Register, 1st grade teacher at Quitman Elementary School, was recently named Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Register serves as team leader for the 1st grade team and serves on Quitman Elementary’s Leadership Team.  A graduate of Brooks County High School, Mrs. Register graduated from Thomas University with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She began working in Brooks County Schools thirteen years ago.  She was a paraprofessional for several years and then upon completing her college coursework, became a teacher in the same school she had been a paraprofessional in.  Mrs. Register is the daughter of Wayne and Glenda Hodge and is married to Greg Register.  She has three children, Anthony Newell, Allison Newell, and Caleb Register along with one grandson, Aiden Watley.  Mrs. Register stated, “The best part of teaching is guiding students toward their full potential and observing their accomplishments.  When I form connections with my students, guide them towards their goals, and watch them experience the excitement and love for learning, it's more rewarding to me than any accolade that could be bestowed upon me.”  Charles Perry, principal of Quitman Elementary School, said, “Mrs. Register is extremely well respected among her fellow teachers.  She wants every student to achieve their best and searches diligently for new ways to take her students to the next level. Her students adore her.”  Mrs. Register will now move on to compete for the title of Brooks County Schools Teacher of the Year.
